So, I decided to go up to Sylvania wilderness and do some fishing. Man did I pick the perfect week. The Bluegill were on their beds and nearly every cast was a fish on moment.
There was a group off 5 of us. Myself, dad, brother, brother-in-law and nephew. My nephew and I stayed together and I showed him the ways. This was his first primitive style trip. He also is not very experienced in fishing. So I set him up with an open bail rod and a hair jig. It was a fish on kind of week. At one point he was 8 casts 8 fish. We did try other things like frogs and spinners for bass, but the panfish were hot. The bass had not really come in yet.
The rest were on their own and trying for the big fish, but had no real luck. A couple instances of bite offs, but nothing too special.
If you are looking for hot bluegill, crappie and perch I totally recommend Sylvania in early June.
